Course Overview
Private equity is different from investment banking. You are not an advisor anymore. You are actively participating in the decision to commit capital to a transaction that bears risk, but promises returns.
This means understanding the business properly, questioning assumptions, modelling downsides, and forming a clear investment view. It also means being able to model an investment structure adapted to the region you are to invest in.
The Applied Private Equity programme is designed to train you at analyst/associate level, specifically with three goals in mind:
To train you technically to build complete underwriting/LBO models to support an investment thesis.
To help you think like senior private equity investors - strategically and commercially.
To factor in regional specificities that will impact the investment
You will work through a real company case from Europe or Switzerland - building a full underwriting model, structuring leverage, testing scenarios, and assessing returns.
By the end of the programme, you will become an advanced modeller, able to:
Approach a target with an investor’s mindset
Build and challenge a full underwriting model
Evaluate leverage and debt sustainability
Identify value creation levers and operational upside
Analyse risks and credible mitigants
Form a concise investment thesis
Communicate your reasoning clearly in discussion
